Day 4 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
This big Asian city has been a bit of culture shock from our sleepy beach neighborhoods of Thailand, with each day offering up many interesting experiences. If only we could blog the smells of this place...never in our lives have we smelt such smells. Truly, it is a loud, busy, crazy city but we've found some respite in the park areas and of course have enjoyed immersing ourselves in the strangeness of this culture.
This is our street in Chinatown - a claustrophobic chaos of 'hawker' stalls, stores, food stands, and hotels. At night the whole street fills up with stands and we are lucky to find our way through the maze home. How one street could sell so many watches, bags and shirts is beyond me.
The 'cook your own sticks of food' stall seemed a safe bet for our bellies, but you still had to pick up your feet when the rats ran by!
At the table, we boiled our own veggies while the lamb and mushrooms were grilled in front of us.
Most of the food we've eaten here is cooked on the sidewalk.
Yesterday we went to the worlds largest free flight aviary. This cassowary from Papua New Guinea can't fly, but may be a descendant of the velociraptor!
The famed Petronas Towers, post movie. If you are wondering, yes, I am shooting a Spiderman web.
We've eaten at least this many coconuts so far.
Tomorrow......BORNEO! Most likely no computers in the jungle.
We'll post again from Bangkok in a few weeks.
Looks like an AMAZING summer vacation! I'm staying tuned for the Borneo monkey pics.
